The course examines key developments in the history of modern Greek theatre during the Interwar and Postwar periods, focusing on both dramaturgy and theatrical practice. Particular attention is given to plays, playwrights, landmark productions, influential theatre companies, actors, directors, and other significant theatre practitioners who shaped the evolution of modern Greek theatre.
After the successful completion of the course, students are expected to:
• demonstrate knowledge of representative works of modern Greek dramaturgy from both the Interwar and Postwar periods;
• understand the continuities and transformations of theatrical forms, movements, and artistic trends across these periods;
• develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between the theatrical past and contemporary theatre practice.
